About the event

The Interconnected Dance.

Katie Lusby is a freelance performer, teacher and facilitator with over 15 years' experience in contemporary dance and physical theatre.

Katie loves dancing alone, but her favourite thing is to dance with other people. To tune-in to the others in the space - to their movements, their flow, their dynamics. To notice the shapes & forms the bodies take, the pathways they carve in the space, and the opportunities this presents. To sense what arises, what dissipates, and how the individual and collective energies might gather, develop and transform. Like the butterfly effect, one small occurrence can influence a much larger, complex system. This workshop is an invitation to explore and play with the endless possibilities that lie in a shared, interconnected dance.

The session will begin with a guided improvisation to get us flowing and warmed-up, before moving onto some exercises and explorations for interconnected dancing. How can we really listen through all our senses and tune-in to one another? How can we increase our level of awareness so that we can respond sensitively and dynamically to what’s going on? What will we need to do as individuals to contribute to the shared movement world we’ll find ourselves in? After the 90-min workshop class we’ll move into a free jam, with Temenos resident DJ FX10K on music duties.

Come and join us as we play, explore and discover something together. No previous dance experience required - everyone is welcome!
