Friday Night Dance

The weekly Friday Night Dance events are the lifeblood of the Temenos Dance Collective. Hosted by Temenos founder Felix Oram, (FX10K), members are invited  to gather in the beautiful Old School Rooms in Clapton to celebrate what  it means to be a conscious dancer. There is a strong emphasis on connection with other dancers but if people need their space then this  is welcomed too.

Members  are encouraged to leave their mental stories from the previous week at  the door and are offered a space to drop into the language of the body.

Weekly  sessions run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, except when there is a visiting DJ  on the second Friday of the month, where the sessions are extended by 30  minutes. The music policy is deep and powerful, spanning genres that include  classical, ambient, downtempo, deep house, acid house, breakbeat,  techno, drum & bass, funk and hip-hop. In reality there are no  limits or boundaries. If it's good music that facilitates movement it  can be played.

While dancing is the primary focus there are also times when people need to process their thoughts and feelings. To facilitate this an area of the  floor is set aside for relaxing and resting. Dancers are additionally supported with fruit and dark chocolate to provide energy. Temenos events are safe, inclusive spaces where members open up to  whatever arises for them. As such there is no photography allowed.
