FELIX ORAM

Felix Oram is a conscious movement facilitator, DJ, mentor, coach and the founder of the Temenos Dance Collective.

He started his DJing career at the age of 15 having been inspired by the early rave culture of the 1990s and a genuine belief in the transformational and revolutionary power of dance music.

After over a decade DJing in clubs, running record labels and working in recording studios Felix took a break in 2007 to focus on his health and personal well being.

In the process of working on his addictions and taking time to get sober Felix discovered  Vipassana meditation, a technique that still serves him to this day and one in which he has over one thousand hours of dedicated practice.

Felix first discovered 5Rhythms in 2013 at Christian de Sousa's Sweaty Thursdays in Vauxhall before going on to dance and crew for Sue Rickards in Tufnell Park for around a decade.  These years dancing with Sue were a great source of inspiration for him and a wonderful foundation in conscious movement.

During the Covid-19 lockdowns, deeply frustrated by what he felt was the egregious denial of the right for people to gather and congregate to dance, Felix felt a strong calling to step forward into the conscious movement arena to offer his own dances.

It took a few more years for Felix's vision and passion for a new conscious movement project to crystallize, but finally, in the autumn of 2023 he launched the Temenos Dance Collective via a series of conscious dance parties that he hosted at the Old School Rooms in Clapton (Hackney).

In those early days the dances were primarily DJ led, but through the course of 2024 Felix developed and expanded his facilitating skills and now offers a range of conscious movement classes and sessions.

Felix's facilitation is somatically oriented and centres on the importance of connecting with the body.  Inspired and influenced by his long-standing Vipassana meditation practice as well as his own movement teachers, Sue Rickards and Rick Nodine, Felix is developing his own unique, gentle teaching style.

Felix believes that somatic spaces are essential for the future health and well being of the human race.

'As we enter a dystopian and dangerous era of human history, with the advent of AI technology and immersive 3D metaverses, there has never been a greater need for spaces that support human beings to reconnect with their bodies, develop somatic awareness and connect with other humans in real time'.

Conscious movement offers us a path through the madness of our times and Felix sincerely hopes Temenos will continue to be a source of movement, safety, nourishment and support to all those that need it.

Felix currently runs most of the Temenos Dance Collective classes and sessions, and is also available for 1:1 work as a movement facilitator, life coach and mentor.

On his own personal journey Felix has worked through a range of processes, including addiction and abandonment patterns, and has a deep compassion for and understanding of the human condition.
